Posted - 03/29/2009 : 11:05:30 AM Hello. We recently purchased a 1982 Carver Mariner 2896. I am starting some repairs to get her ready to launch May first. My question is one of the blocks that attaches the trim tab actuator to the transom is gone and I an not sure that the other one is all there. Does anyone have a photo of what these blocks are supposed to look like? Any help would be greatly appreciated. THANKS Mark bikerdick_1999@yahoo.com |

I'd say that is quite the home-made affair... and not factory produced...
... consider creating a proper block and duplicating on both sides?

Sounds like you have the same tabs as mine. When your brain firms up,lol, I would still like a photo if you can. Thanks for the info. Mark |

Posted - 04/22/2009 : 8:07:19 PM Diver Down Thanks for the info but my trim tabs are built into the bottom of the boat, made of fiberglass covered plywood. I just had them rebuilt as they were rotten. They do not extend out of the transom at all.The actuators push straight down, not on a angle. Thanks for the reply. Mark |

Posted - 04/22/2009 : 11:37:15 AM That is basically identical to mine. Just above the water line and cut at about 45*. (Although a piece is missing at the top rear of yours.)
Hope this helps! PS My brain is still mush & forgot pic again... Will try for this weekend.

Posted - 04/22/2009 : 08:48:33 AM That looks really odd. How is the other end attached? It looks like the wrong angle, and looks too high on the transom.

Posted - 03/30/2009 : 7:47:11 PM Is this what you are looking for? this is an older version, and there would be a plastic plug in the orginal version, but I will use a stainless bolt with neoprene lock washer to hold the actuator piston in place.
