Hi folks... been lurking within for a few months now and am impressed by the calibre of posts and have thanks to carvermitch/Paul for establishing the site... own a very rough 1973 (all rot err wood) Voyager 3120. Have spent much of the summer working on her while she is floating at our local marina. I have done much, however, she has a long long way to go. Last year for Carver's all wood boats. Anyone here have one like her? These Voyager 3120 do seem to be a rare model.
Would like to purchase a head (toilet - manual pump style), holding tank, and Carver name plates that graced the sides. Wiring diagram would be of big help as would some details on the Walter Vdrives and engines. These appear to be 302 Fords but not entirely sure. Acquired the vessel in June, however everything, absolutely everything needs attention, most of it major. She should have been scrapped. And that is probably why I am rebuilding her. Ok, why do we call boats she and her anyway. Happy Carvering All - Steve |

HI STEVE; I HAVE A CATALOG FROM A PLASTIC TANK MANUFACTURER THEY CARRY JUST ABOUT ANYTHING YOU COULD WANT.TOMORROW NIGHT WHEN I GET HOME I WILL DIG IT OUT AND POST THE NAME AND ADDRESS .IF YOU CALL THEM THEY WILL SEND YOU ONE FOR FREE. I HAD TO REPLACE THE WATER TANK ON SECOND TO LAST AND FOUND THEM TO VERY REASONABLE. I HAD A 1972 ALL WOOD 25 FOOT MONTEREY IT WAS BY FAR THE BIGGEST PROJECT BOAT I HAVE DONE TO DATE.I BOUGHT THE TRAILER AND THEY GAVE ME THE BOAT.WE RAN IT FOR 5 YEARS AND GOT 2FOOTITUS AND MOVED INTO A 28 MARINER. I TOOK THE WHOLE CABIN OFF DOWN TO THE DECK AND THE GUNNEL'S THE TOP LAP BOARD AND RIBS WERE ROTTED.I REPLACED ALL THE STRUCTURAL WITH TREATED DECKING AND 2 BY 6 AND ALL THE MAHOGANY WITH ALL NEW MAHOGANY ALL THE TEAK WAS INTACT BUT REQUIRED A LOT OF WORK.I REPLACED THE ORIGINAL NAUTELEX WITH A SOFT MARINE VINYL, THAT WAS A BIG MISTAKE IT LASTED 2 YEARS THE SUN ATE IT UP. SO I TORE IT ALL OFF AND REPLACE IT WITH WHITE WITH BLACK STRIPED NAUTELEX.LOOKED MUCH BETTER AND STILL LOOKED GOOD 2 YEARS LATER WHEN I SOLD THE BOAT. WHAT ENGINES DO YOU HAVE?WHAT MODEL WALTERS DO YOU HAVE? CARVERMITCH HAS A LOT OF INFO ON 1977 AND UP BUT I THINK THEY WERE THE SAME,CHECK YOUR MODEL NUMBERS. IF YOU HAVE OLD STEEL GAS TANKS YOU MAY WANT TO CONSIDER REPLACING THEM, FRANK |

oops... hit a wrong key it seems.. ... onward... sort of permanent categories for these two items? I have a whole slew of items that I am searching for, and have a few available for sale too, and imagine such is the case with others here...?
Re photos, would be happy to scan and post some, however I do not see a way to attach images here... am I missing something?
As I mentioned in my first post - my boat should have been scrapped, as absolutely everything needs attention, much of it major. For now I would like to know if anyone has info on the Walter V drive. One of my two has a massive oil leak from the upper shaft (seal?), and the shaft looks scored in that area and appears that alignment is off. Really could use a walk-through on this one. I am in northern Ontario and few have any experience with these older boats. Does the drive have to come out? Can I just pull the U-joint and front off the drive? Anyway, any suggestions here most welcome.
Will attempt at removing the boat from the water soon, IF I can find a single axle tractor to pull my trailer. Had the trailer for a larger earlier boat and will need to play and modify (in and out of water) to fit the trailer to boat. Somebody want to trade my 40ft tri-axle for something more taylored to my Voyager 3120?
Thanks All - Steve |

Hi Steve This is just an extension of my website and I do have a for sale page there which everyone is welcome to use at no cost. As for the photos, I am happy to add to the gallery on the web page as I have with many other Carvers. If you go to the top of this page and hit HOME you are then able to see the website. If you email me what you want and photos I will attach them. Hope this helps Regards Paul |
