Thnaks for the great posts. I have gotten a great education reading everyones posts.
I have a 1986 28 Mariner that is in mint condidtion. The brushed metal panels in the bridge console however need some work. The lettering indications are worn off and impossible to read. Can anyone recommend what I can use to relabel the bridge control panels or where I get get new brushed metal panels so I can bring her to original condition?
Getting the originals, I would imagine, is very difficult. I plan to use 1/8" starboard in either white or black (other colors available). Then use the little plates sold at West Marine or other stores that indicate what the switches are for. Best of luck, Regards Jerry
Take them apart, flip them over refinish with a scotch brite pad and relabel with a Brother P-touch machine (available at Staples) however you will need to cover the label with a good quality scotch tape to prevent the labels from scratching. redid my helm about 5yrs ago, still looks great. I opted to replace the aluminum pannels with white plexi-glass and also replaced all the switches with illuminated ones for a more modern look. or you could just use stock labels available at west marine however you will not find exactly the labels you will need
