Ron, reason I went with the electrics was a last ditch effort. Could not get satisfactory perfomance from the mechanicals, possibly worn cams. Also, the electrics resolve a problem with the Holley carbs of drain down of the fuel bowls. It would take what seemed like forever for the mechanical pumps to fill the bowls before the engines would fire. Now they start in less than a couple of revolutions, great improvement for battery and starter life. I used the red top holley fuel pumps which are rated for the size holley carb on the 302 Ford engines. Used Aeroquip SS braided hoses on all pressure lines. Aeroquip has a special angle fitting end for the Holley carbs. As you probably have noted I needed to add fuel line filters upstream of the holley pumps to keep the dirt from the old fuel tanks out of the pumps. The arrangement has been working well for the past two seasons. Have not fired up the engines yet but probably will within the next week or so. Although its warm in Oklahoma, we have had an unusually wet spring.
