I have a loose leaking soft plug behind a front motor mount on my 302 ford pleasurecraft 1974 any ideas suggestions can't fit a rubber expantion plug any one have any luck tucking one side in and tapping other side in ?????????????????????????????
The motor mount is just two bolts upward from the bottom, pretty easy to take the bolts out and lift the motor a bit to get the plug in. Put some gasket sealer around the outside edge before installing.
Hope this helps!

Agree with Rockmeister. I've never had any luck unless you can square it up and tap it in perfectly straight. Putting in slanted and tapping one side will most certainly resulty in a leak. At least that's my experience.
You don't have to remove the bolts that go through the stringers, you don't want to if you don't have to remove them. If you remove the stringer bolts, it may change your shaft alignment. Just remove the two motor mount bolts that bolt directly to the engine, they go pretty much straight up through the motor mount and into the engine block. You may have to remove the bolts from both sides to lift the engine enough, but I believe one side will be sufficient.
