Hi all. Does anyone know which thermostat the Ford 302 engine likes?

Hi Ron!

Ford engines like 140 to 160 degree thermostats.
You can get a 140 degree marine thermostat at NAPA, it will be in a package labeled for a Mercury Marine engine, but works fine.

The lowest temp regular automotive thermostat you are likely to find would be a 160.

The thermostat gasket is somewhat unique, best bet is to have them match it, they should get pretty close, or simply make one.

You might want to look at www.boatfix.com. They have an entire parts section for Merc's and the best prices I've found anywhere.
