Has anyone used a fuel flow meter or are at least familiar with them? They seem like the most worthwhile investment to-date. According to the reviews, they are spot on accurate. I wonder what it would cost to have one of these installed, for twin engine of course.

My Carver came with one (I think it was added by the PO). There are two sending units, one on each fuel filter inlet, and they are wired together. I have not run the boat yet, but I think I get one reading, the combined flow from both engines.
There is a totalizer as well, with a reset switch.
If I had to do it over again, I would get one that interfaces with a GPS, or paddle wheel, that would then do the math for me, and actually show MPG.

Dual gauge kit with totalizer will cost you $350 to $400 depending on your engine application. Plus you will most likely need a surge protector for each fuel pump.
I strongly recommend calling FloScan and talking directly to them so they can advise you exactly what you need.
Pricey but well worth the money. Can pay for themselves easily in one year with fuel efficiency and svaings.

Lowrance makes a NMEA2000 unit called a MFD Multifunction Display. I have a LMF-400 it does the MPG calculation for you using a paddle wheel. Shows water speed also. Also have it connected to my trim tabs also showing current tab positions.
Pretty handy! It is a fully Plug & Play set-up, very easy to install.
If you hunt around, you can get the whole set-up(Including sensors, cables, etc) for less than the price of the Flowscans.
Obtained the MFD itself from Cabelas, the sensors I got from a place on the east coast, will have to look it up.
Can also add Fuel level sensors to it also, haven't gotten around to that one yet... lol
