Thanks,
It's a plank laminate made by Traffic Master, sold by Home Depot.
It's item # 685-574 "Allure Teak".
It comes in 36" strips that over lap each other. I also glued them to the floor and edged them with "L" aluminum.

Ouch,
Engines are not in as good a shape as I'd hoped.

Off we go to the overhaul shop.

Lower end not too bad, but cranks will need to be turned and
over-sized bearings installed.

Four heads, two are cracked and need replaced.

Found two broken pistons. All will need to be replaced anyway.

One flex drive plate broken, spring fell out and beat
the inside of the bell housing up a bit.

Stereo is finally done, new receiver, Ipod connected and
Satellite receiver in.

Remote control for the stereo.

Engines are back home and rapped up for the winter.
Transmissions are in Florida getting overhauled. One had water in it at some point, so the pump and input shaft need replaced. (ouch, again).
Bilge is all cleaned up, and the steering will go back in tonight.

Never mind the dinky battery in the photo, just want the stereo to work

I will be needing two transmission coolers next March. Any ideas on these? OEM or after market?
Any better than others?

Anyone still out there?
Kinda quite..... Maybe I should get down to see Bob in FL?
Or
Maybe I'm the only one still working on my boat, the rest of you guys are out boating

Steering is back in, and done.

Big boxes of "stuff" that needs to be cleaned and rebuilt.

Have decided to replace all the exhaust with Osco center riser style manifolds. They are cheaper, look better, and
should gain a few HP because of their design.
Should get them ordered next month.

I will be building my propane locker box this week, and then that will be it for a few (4 to 6) months.

I'm still hopeful that I too, will be enjoying the water by this time next year.

Man, things are looking really good. You should have a brand new boat to enjoy next year.

If I may, I'd like to make one suggestion. One of my BIGGEST pet peeves with boat manufacturers is that they WAY undersize the bilge pumps they put in boats. In the photo, your bilge pump looks like a Rule 2000 gph pump. If that is the case, I would strongly suggest upsizing that to at least a 3700 to 4000 gph pump in the ER.

An acquaintence of mine lost his 60' Carver in 280' of water last week. The pumps in his boat were 2000 gph and didn't even come close to keeping him afloat. His was a 2002 model boat so it can even happen to newer vessels. it's not kown for sure what happened to his boat but a exhaust hose failure of some sort is suspected.

Also, replace the corrugated outlet hose with smoothe bore. A lot of pump efficiency is lost because of flow resistence in corrugated hose.

FYI, in my 28 Voyager I have a 5000 gph pump in the ER and a 3700 gph under the salon sole.. I also hage a high water alarm in both compartments with both a light at the upper helm and a loud bell attached.

Just a suggestion.

Thanks for the info Bob,

I will get a larger pump, and a different float. I have one on my Excel that is just a box, and when it gets wet, it starts the pump and lets it run for a minutes.

I have the pumps connected to an alarm in the saloon.

Would you suggest a separate float for the alarm, or just set the alarm when the pumps run?

Would it be smart to keep the smaller pump in the bilge as a back up?
Maybe put the float up a little higher?

Or
Maybe put the larger pump float at a higher level, and let the little pump handle the daily chores?

The ideal set up is to have a smaller pump mounted as low as possible to handle normal water intrusion; drip seals, rain water, whatever. Then mount a "Big Daddy" 2"-3" higher to kick in if a major problem arises that the smaller one can't handle and connect your alarms to the larger one.

Or just get a really big bucket.

But just to put into perspective, your Mariner has a draft of 2'10", lets round it off to 3' since you will have fuel, water, gear and people on board. Let's say you lose a raw water intake.

That would be the effect of about a 1.5"-2" hole, 3' below the waterline. A 2" hole, 3' below the waterline will flow 136.1 gpm or 8166 gph. So that's what you will need to pump just to keep up.

A 1.5" hole will flow, guess, about 100 gpm or 6000 gph. That's what you'll need to pump just to keep up, never mind gaining ground and emptying the boat.

That's why undersized bilge pumps are a reall pi$$er to me.

Bob,
Good advise, and good scare tactics. You should be in sales.

Got my propane locker done.

Used the King Starboard for the box. Neat stuff.
Still need to put a vapor seal on the hose, but at
least the holes the PO drilled in the transom are hidden how.

Transmissions are done and back home

Now I need:
2 oil coolers
2 drive plates
1 flywheel ring gear
4 manifolds
4 4" risers
4 exhaust elbows

Anyone have any of these parts they want to sell?
Anyone what to come and finish this thing?
