Does anyone know if Carver installed a through hull transducer in the 1989 models? My Voyager has one under the port salon floor. Sorry I can't get a photo. It's about a 2" round puck with two "ears" on the side. I would love to be able to use this on a depth finder.
Does it even matter what brand they are, are they somewhat standard? I would think NOT.
I am also curious whether they are standard and could be used with different brands of sounder. My boat has a through hull that the previous owner informed me was attached to a graph paper fathometer.

Lots of differences in through hull transducers depending on use; bi-data, tri-data, fish finders, etc and they come in a variety of frequencies and capabilities eventhough nearly all of them are made by a company called Airmar. You'll be much better off to buy one specifically matched to your electronics.
The "puck" you mention sounds like an Auto Helm bi-data (depth and speed) or tri data (depth, speed and water temp). Carver installed lots of them as an option. If that's what it is it is not usable for a fishfinder.

My 88 Voyager came with a puck styled thru hull transducer in the location mentioned (port salon).
The original depth gauge and fish finder unit that was installed with it was an Interphase product that actually came with a CRT screen (a picture tube).
I replaced it early on with an Interphase Echo 200 fishfinder that works perfectly with the original transducer.
