I hope the absence of posts is an indication that everyone is out on their boats, all is mechanically well and everyone is having a blast and enjoying the summer.

I and the First Mate have been really enjoying ourselves. We've had lots of rain this year in NE Florida but only a very few "hot" days so it's actually been quite nice. it's been pretty much typical FL weather, rain for an hour then the sun comes right back out.

For me, dropping the hook, laying back in the salon, reading a good book and listening to the rain hit the canvas is NOT a bad way to spend an afternoon.

So far our ventures have been short term and short distances, over night and week ends. But, late Summer and Fall we have some more venturous trips in the planning stages the longest of which will be a 4-6 week trip to the Bahamas. Yes, I do and have taken the "28" accross the "Stream" to the Bahamas. I LOVE Lucaya. We might also take a trip accross the Okeechobee Waterway from the FL East Coast, through Lake Okeechobee and out into the Gulf of Mexico. The next trip though is a one week trip up to Savannah with stops in Fernandina Beach and Palm Cove along the way.

Anyway, hope every one is happy and well.

Bob

Well, I am all wet... so yes, splashed the hull a few weeks ago, but have no home except for my boat, and no internet at the marina so only occasional access. ... anyway, yes, the hull is wet, and so is my bed and a few other things as there are rain water leaks all over the place lol... way tooooo much rain! here in the North of Ontario. Also still do not have the engines running (last running and last in the water five years ago) and still need to align engine/tran and VeeDrive ... Anyone give me tips on how to do this? not the exactness of it part, but rather the part of physically moving the engine up/down with these funny motormount/adjustment things... what part needs to be turned and/or loosened up etc? what about the top rectangular post - special tool to turn this? (presuming this is the way to move engine up/down) --- Rock??? anyone??? lol thanks Guys! Sunny and hot next week, so am getting anxious - could this be our only week of summer? ~ Steve ps... will try to post some pics soon on the splash/boat ... she looks good from a distance lol... some issues surfacing with my deck/epoxy work :-( ... Have a great summer all...

Heyya Steve!

Was wondering how it was all going!
Glad to hear you are in the water!
Will have to post some pics for us.

Curious about your epoxy/deck issues...

My alignment was not far enough off to require too much adjustment on mine.
If I remember correctly, this is how the mounts work:
The big nut is a locknut, loosen it, then turn the large flat to raise/lower the engine on that side. Re-tighten locknut.
The side to side alignment is mainly done on the Vee-drive, loosen the locking clamp on both sides and tap the vee drive with a dead blow hammer(plastic lead filled hammer) into proper alignment. Re-tighten locking clamp.
(Please forgive me if I am not totally accurate here, this is from memory, will look at it again this weekend.)

Know I have seen a tool that fits a socket wrench for the mounts somewhere... CRS...
Just used a good wrench that fit it.
Thought about making a socket, but didn't need to.

Hope this helps!

Rock

Hi Rock, thanks for the info... have not attempted the alignment yet - scheduled for tomorrow. There is another large nut (?) under the mounts, but maybe this is just a bolt head? Aside from this, the VeeDrive does not seem to have any adjustment at all from what I noted in re-installing this item, but maybe there is just enough slack to do some side to side adjusting - these VeeDrvs have a special bearing on the upper shaft that is 'loose' (so I have learned) to accommodate some misalignment...? Anyway hope to have a friend work on this with me tomorrow and then we will install new plugs (engine) and attempt the start. Has been sitting for two weeks with old plugs out and a little oil in cylinders... have not cranked yet. (five years). ~ Steve
ps the epoxy/deck issues are essentially heat related - it was really hot and sunny for two days after launch (the only two days of this summer so far) and it appears that the wood swelled/expanded in some spots and with the soft from heat epoxy - the 'planking' lifted at the seams in several spots...
